NEW BRITAIN, Conn. – Five members of the Fairfield University men’s cross country team hit the course on Friday afternoon at the CCSU Mini-Meet. The Stags were paced by Stephen Jastrzembski at Stanley Quarter Park in the team’s final meet prior to next weekend’s MAAC Championship.
Jastrzembski finished the 5K race with a mark of 17:21.5, followed closely by classmate and teammate Mike Bodie at 17:27.7. Timothy Salit followed with a mark of 17:42.3, while freshmen Christopher Margres (17:50.9) and Chris Fischer (18:13.3) rounded out the Fairfield harriers at the meet.
The Stags placed 16th among Division I teams for the afternoon. Boston University won the team title, paced by the race’s top two individual finishers – Paul Luevano (14:51.2) and Alexander Seal (15:01.5).
The 2016 MAAC Championship will be held at ESPN Wide World of Sports in Orlando on Saturday, Oct. 29. The 8 a.m. men’s race and 9 a.m. women’s race will both be broadcast live on ESPN3.
