Women?s Golf Returns to Action on Wednesday at Hartford Hawks Tournament

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University women’s golf team will makes its only in-state appearance of the spring this Wednesday, April 8, at the Hartford Hawks Tournament. Due to course conditions and the impending weather forecast, the event has been moved to the nearby H. Smith Richardson Golf Course in Fairfield.

The Stags have been led by a solid quintet – Olivia Brooks, Katie Rockwell, Emma Ritzmann, Michelle Applegate and Danielle Dalessandro – all of whom have recorded at least one round in the 70s and at least one individual top-10 finish during the 2014-15 campaign.

Most recently, Len Roberto’s squad competed at two March events in Florida. The Stags were led by a two-day 165 from Brooks at the Lonnie Barton Invitational (March 9-10) and a 159 carded by Ritzmann at the two-day Quinnipiac Tri-Match on March 12-13. Ritzmann finished just five strokes off the pace at the Victoria Hills Country Club in DeLand, Fla.

Wednesday’s action marks the first of two one-day events that will pit the Stags against several of their Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference counterparts. Fairfield, which was tabbed for third in the MAAC Preseason Coaches’ Poll, will trek to New Jersey next Wednesday, April 15, for Monmouth’s Hawk Quad Match prior to the 2015 MAAC Championship at Lake Buena Vista, Fla. on April 24-26.
