Women?s Golf Finishes 12th at Lonnie Barton Invitational

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Fairfield University women’s golf team began its 2015 spring season with a 12th-place performance at the Lonnie Barton Invitational. Olivia Brooks led the Stags for the two-day tournament on the par-72 LPGA International Golf Course.

Brooks shot a team-best 80 on day two and carded a 165 for the tournament. Emma Ritzmann was right behind her with a 166 following an 85 on Tuesday, while Michelle Applegate’s 87 rounded out her total at 168. Danielle Dalessandro and Katie Rockwell each improved on the second day, turning in an 85 and 87, respectively. The Fairfield quintet combined to post a 674 at the event.

In other individual performances, Jackie Schofield fired an 89 this morning and a 174 for the week.

The team title went to LIU Brooklyn (624), led by a second-place 152 from Brianna Maynard. Taylar Jaramillo of St. Francis (Pa.) claimed an individual championship with a two-day score of 151.

Fairfield will remain in the Sunshine State to challenge Quinnipiac and Delaware on March 12-13 at the Victoria Hills Golf Club in Deland, Fla.
