EDISON, N.J. – The Fairfield University men's and women's golf teams had 11 student-athletes named to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) All-Academic Team, the most of any other MAAC program. The women's team had seven selections, while the men's team tallied four.

To be eligible for the MAAC All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must complete two semesters at their institution and hold a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.20 on a 4.0 scale.

On the women's side, sophomores Michelle Applegate, Catherine Brabazon, Olivia Brooks, and Sara Quinn and junior Kate Heffernan each earned the honor for the first time. Juniors Emma Ritzmann and Katie Rockwell earned their second-straight accolade.

For the men, sophomore Steve Shiner received his first MAAC All-Academic selections while juniors Peter Repetto and Joe Patalano and senior James Mulligan were named to the list for the second consecutive year.

Fairfield begins action at the 2014 MAAC Golf Championships on Friday, April 25 at Disney’s Palm Golf Course in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. The championship will be highlighted on the final day of competition, with the ninth and 18th holes’ action being broadcast live on ESPN3 starting at 10am.
