ANNAPOLIS, Md. – After two rounds at the Navy Spring Classic, the Fairfield University women’s golf team sits atop the leader board with an 11-stroke lead. Individually, junior Emma Ritzmann is tied for second place after shooting a 167 on the par-72, 6,005-yard course at the Naval Academy Golf Club.
The Stags posted overall score of 688 (342-346) while Navy and Monmouth are tied for second place after both teams carded a 699. St. Francis Brooklyn is in fourth place with a two-round total of 748.
Ritzmann shot an 85 (+13) in the opening round but cut three strokes of her score in the second round (82) to finish the day with a 167 (+23). Ritzmann is eight strokes behind tournament leader Renata Bucker who registered a 159 (77-82).
Junior Katie Rockwell is in fourth place after shooting a 169 (86-83). Sophomore Michelle Applegate turned in a score of 172 (85-87) and sits in seventh place. Freshman Danielle Dalsessandro shot a 181 (86-95) while freshman Jackie Schofield carded a 186 (92-94).
The Navy Spring Classic concludes on Monday at 9am with 18 holes.
