FAIRFIELD, Conn. – For the third time in four games, the Fairfield University men's soccer team will take to the road for a non-conference match. This time, the Stags head close to home with a short trip to Columbia University on Saturday night.

While the road can provide challenges for a team, the Stags have shrugged off being away from campus most recently. Since the beginning of 2025, Fairfield has played .500 on the road, sporting a 4-4-2 mark which includes a 1-1-1 mark against nationally-ranked teams.

Head Coach Krystian Witkowski was finally able to bring his club back to the Fairfield campus last Tuesday, a match that ended in a 2-2 draw with Lehigh University. The good news for the team is that the next two games following Columbia are at home including their first Metro Conference game.

Fairfield had to fight back on two occasions against Lehigh, tying the game at 1-1 with under a minute in the first half and again at 2-2 in the 73^rd minute. Newcomer Jett Aktan provided the team's first goal with a header off a brilliant corner kick from Cristian Ortiz. Sean Albritton, last year's top scorer, again drew the Stags even with his goal that came off a cross from Cristiano Carlos.

Carlos has made a good impression through his first three games as a Stag, picking up a point in each of those outings. He currently leads the team with five points which comes off a pair of goals and his assist against Lehigh. Atkan and Albritton round out the team's goal scoring and place second among their teammates with two points.

Goalkeeper Evan Chomow carried his success from his inaugural season into the current campaign, already posting one clean sheet which came in the UConn match. He is averaging three saves per match and is sporting a 1.33 goals against average with a .692 save percentage.

Columbia opened its season at home last Friday but came up short in a 4-2 decision against Army West Point. The Lions outshot their opponent by an 18-8 margin including an 11-2 edge in the second half. Henning Myrvang and Ethan Heyward found the back of the net for Columbia while Luke Zielinski assisted on both of the team's goals.

Following its trip to New York, the Stags will play back-to-back home games for the first time this year, hosting the University of New Haven on September 12 and defending Metro Conference champion Siena University on September 19.
