FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University field hockey team finishes up its three-game home stand this weekend, beginning with the program's first CAA match in program history. The Stags will host Drexel University on Friday, September 18 before returning to non-conference action against the University of Vermont on Sunday, September 20.
Fairfield has played six of its first seven games on its home pitch with the lone away match coming against #18 Yale University last Friday. The date marked the program's second match against a team in the top 25, already facing Syracuse University in the season opener. And, the Stags still have two more matches against nationally-ranked foes, heading to UConn and Monmouth University in October.
Last weekend, the Stags dropped a 2-1 decision to Yale before rebounding with a win over Brown University to complete their Ivy League weekend. Goalkeeper
Georgia McDade earned her first two starts since joining the program last season and responded with performances that were strong enough to collect the CAA Defensive Player of the Week. The sophomore made 14 saves in those two outings including a career-best eight stops in the win over Brown.
Five different Fairfield student-athletes scored a goal last weekend to comprise the team's five goals.
Noor Hellemans and
Alyse Wanchisen each tallied their first goal of the season, while
Camille Perlov and
Emily Carney collected their second goal of the 2026 campaign.
Kylie Corcoran picked up her fifth goal of the season with a penalty stroke in the Brown game.
Drexel, the defending CAA field hockey champion, will come to the Fairfield campus with a 4-2 record. The Dragons dropped their season opener to nationally-ranked Maryland but followed up with four consecutive wins. The streak ended with a 4-1 setback to Lafayette last Sunday.
Fleur Hamers paces the Drexel attack with seven goals and three assists for 17 points in six starts. Pili Lemoine is next in line with 14 points off five goals and four assists. Halle Geiger has started all six matches and sports a .750 save percentage off 27 saves with a 2.04 goals against average.
Vermont brings a 4-1 record into the weekend with the lone loss coming to #8 University of Michigan on September 6. The Catamounts opened with a 5-2 win over CAA foe Northeastern University before ending the opening weekend with a 3-0 win over Quinnipiac University.
Isi McMahon leads the team's offense with three goals and four assists for 10 points while Addie DelOrefice is next in line with three goals and three assists for nine points. Ila Gunner played five games in the Vermont goal, making 13 saves for a .650 save percentage with a 1.56 goals against average.
Fairfield will make its first multi-game road trip of the season when it heads to Towson University for a CAA match on September 25 before closing it out at the University of Delaware on September 27.
