McDade Collects CAA Defensive Player Of The Week

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield University goalkeeper Georgia McDade earned the CAA Defensive Player of the Week award for her performances in a 1-1 week against Yale University and Brown University last weekend.

The sophomore made 14 saves in those two games and surrendered a pair of goals to both opponents, giving her a 2.00 goals against average with a .778 save percentage for the week. She opened with a career-high six saves against nationally-ranked Yale University before eclipsing that mark with eight stops in a win against Brown University.

For the season, McDade has played in four of the team's five contests which, accumulating season numbers that show a .800 save percentage and a 1.33 goals against average. She was part of two combined shutouts against the College of the Holy Cross as well as LIU, playing 30 minutes in each of those contests.

The Fairfield University field hockey team, under Head Coach Laura Gebhart, owns a 3-2 overall record and begins play in the CAA this weekend. The Stags will play their first-ever CAA match by hosting Drexel University on Friday before playing a non-conference date against the University of Vermont on Sunday.
