HAMDEN, Conn. – The Fairfield University Baseball team fell to the Quinnipiac Bobcats by a 4-0 score in the series opener in Hamden, Conn.
Connor Scanlan led the team with two hits on the day.
Quinnipiac secured multiple runs in the third, sixth, and eighth innings culminating their afternoon with a three-spot in their final at-bats.
The Bobcats threatened for more in the sixth but Brandon Miller was able to escape a bases loaded one out jam getting a strikeout and groundout to end the threat.
TJ Schmalzle reached third base with one out in the first but could not get home with Quinnipiac retiring two-straight. Fairfield had another chance to open the scoring with two on in the second but the Bobcats ended the frame with a strikeout.
Scanlan led the Stags with two hits, his 11th multi-hit game of the season. Scanlan has tallied six hits in the last two games.
The two teams will play the middle game of the series on Saturday at 2:30pm.
