Stags Shut Down Mount in Battle of MAAC Unbeatens

Fairfield moves to 6-0 with two regular season games remaining

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – In a late-season meeting of MAAC unbeatens on Wednesday on Conway Field at Rafferty Stadium, Fairfield University Women's Lacrosse stood tall with a 12-4 victory over Mount St. Mary's. Kelly Haggerty netted a hat trick, including her 100th career goal, in the pivotal league victory.

With the win, the Stags move to 6-0 in the MAAC as a part of an 11-3 overall record. The Mount now stands at 9-5 with a 5-1 conference tally. Fairfield is joined by Niagara – currently in action against Merrimack – as the last two unbeaten MAAC teams. The Stags and Purple Eagles will not meet during the regular season.

Haggerty's hat trick included the 100th goal of her career. She is the 18th Stag to reach that milestone. Haggerty was an All-MAAC Second Team honoree last spring and began 2026 as the MAAC Preseason Player of the Year.

Tessa Caputo and Mary Henry also had three points apiece; Caputo scored two goals with one assist while Henry had one goal and dished out two helpers.

Fairfield's balanced attack also featured six Stags netting one goal apiece: Paige Gardner, Haley Burns, Kyleigh Tufano, Katie Bergen, Charlotte Loughlin, and Lizzie Getz.

Burns also paced the action in the midfield with four draw controls as the Stags gained a 9-8 edge on the restart. The graduate student also had two caused turnovers and a pair of ground balls.

Defensively, Sophia Colasacco and Katherine Shammas also had two caused turnovers apiece. Whitney Robinson had two saves to record the win in the cage.

The Mount's four goals were a season low of the visitors, who had netted double-digit tallies in 11 of their previous 13 games and were averaging 16 goals per game in MAAC action prior to today. Brooke Molchanoff, who entered the day leading the MAAC and ranked among the nation's best with 51 goals and 68 total points, was held to just one free-position goal and one assist.

Fairfield University Women's Lacrosse returns to action this Saturday with an 11 a.m. visit to Quinnipiac. The Stags then conclude the regular season on Saturday, April 18 at home against Marist.
