Stags Look to Lock Up Top Seed in Regular Season Finale, Saturday at 4 PM

Fairfield hosts Marist in search of an 8-0 MAAC regular season

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield University Women's Lacrosse hosts Marist to close out the 2026 regular season this Saturday, April 18 at 4 p.m. on Conway Field at Rafferty Stadium. The Stags can clinch at least a share of the MAAC Regular Season Championship with a victory over the Red Foxes.

Admission is free for all fans.
 
The Scenario
  • The Stags and Niagara both enter the final day of the regular season at 7-0 in conference play. The Purple Eagles host Mount St. Mary's at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
  • Fairfield owns all tiebreakers with Niagara. Thus, with a Fairfield win or a Niagara loss, the Stags will claim the top seed in the upcoming MAAC Championship and at least a share of their 17th MAAC Regular Season Championship,
  • Fairfield and Niagara are both locked into the #1 and #2 seeds in the standings.
 
Fairfield University Stags (12-3, 7-0 MAAC)
  • The Stags have won their last eight games, most recently taking a 17-13 slugfest at Quinnipiac this past Saturday.
  • Tessa Caputo paces the attack with 24 goals and a team-leading 35 assists. She is only the fifth Stag to ever record 35 assists in a season, currently five helpers back of Brenna Connolly's record of 42 assists distributed in 2018.
  • Kelly Haggerty is Fairfield's top goal scorer with 36 to go alongside her 13 assists.
  • Haley Burns has dominated the midfield as the lone player in the MAAC with 25 goals, 25 draw controls, 25 caused turnovers, and 25 ground balls.
 
Marist University Red Foxes (4-11, 3-4 MAAC)
  • Marist enters the final day of the regular season still in contention for a MAAC postseason berth and cannot be eliminated by earlier results around the league prior to taking the field at Rafferty Stadium.
  • Amelia Pirozzi and Jesse Manger lead the Red Foxes with 37 points apiece. Pirozzi has scored a team-high 31 goals, with Manger doling out a team-best 20 assists.
  • Megan Morris – the sister of Stags' alumna Claire Morris – has started all 15 games in the cage. She owns a .412 save percentage and a 12.83 goals-against average.
 
Series History
  • Fairfield has won the last eight meetings with Marist to take a 27-11 lead in the all-time series.
  • The Stags are 13-4 at home against the Foxes, including a 4-2 mark at Rafferty Stadium.
