FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Alyssa Weinberg earned the Jersey Mike's Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Pitcher of the Week after helping the Fairfield University softball team win five of six games last week. The award was the first of the 2026 season for the left hander.

Weinberg enjoyed a stellar week that saw the senior have a hand in four of the team's five victories. She opened the week by picking up a complete-game victory in the first game of a doubleheader against Quinnipiac University. Weinberg returned to the pitching circle in game two and recorded the final five outs to earn her first save of the season.

A few days later, Weinberg earned two complete-game victories in as many days by defeating Sacred Heart University by an 8-2 score on Saturday before following up with a one-hit shutout against the Pioneers one day later. In the two games, the senior posted 28 strikeouts in 14 innings including a season-best 15 strikeouts in the shutout on Sunday afternoon.

For the week, Weinberg struck out 31 batters in 22-plus innings and posted an impressive 0.93 ERA off just three earned runs for the week.

Weinberg has won her last six decisions which helped her improve on her overall record at 11-7. She has 126 strikeouts in 108 innings of work, averaging 8.2 strikeouts per seven innings, with a 2.97 ERA.

The Fairfield University softball team, under Head Coach Julie Brzezinski, plays five home games this week beginning with Tuesday's single game against Hofstra University. The home stand continues with another single game versus Central Connecticut State University on Wednesday. The Stags close out the week with a three-game series against MAAC foe Siena University, playing a doubleheader on Saturday and a single game on Sunday.
