Tessa Caputo Earns Second MAAC Offensive Player of the Week Honor

The sophomore had 11 points in a 2-0 week for the Stags

EDISON, N.J. – After pacing Fairfield University Women's Lacrosse with 11 points in a pair of Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference wins, Tessa Caputo has been named the MAAC co-Offensive Player of the Week. Caputo earned the honor for the second time this season.

The sophomore attacker scored two goals with an assist in Wednesday's win over The Mount. She followed up with a career-high eight points, netting five goals with three assists in the Saturday victory at Quinnipiac.

Caputo shared the honor this week with Marist's Jesse Manger, who had nine points in two losses for the Red Foxes.

On the season, Caputo leads the Stags and ranks fourth in the MAAC with 59 points. Her team-leading 35 assists are also good for third in the conference. Caputo is the fifth Stag in program history to record 35 or more assists in a season. She is in pursuit of Brenna Connolly's record of 42 helpers dished out in 2018.

Fairfield Women's Lacrosse concludes the regular season this Saturday, April 18 on Conway Field at Rafferty Stadium with a 4 p.m. visit from Marist. Admission is free for all fans.

The Stags currently stand at 12-3 overall and 7-0 in the MAAC. With a win, Fairfield would secure at least a share of its 17th overall and fourth consecutive MAAC Regular Season Championship.

Should the Stags and Niagara (8-7, 7-0 MAAC) finish tied at either 8-0 or 7-1, the top seed and host for the upcoming MAAC postseason will be determined by the conference office at the close of competition this weekend.
