FAIRFIELD, Conn.-The Fairfield University men's tennis team opened its 2026 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference schedule at home on a sunny and breezy Tuesday afternoon with a 4-2 victory over the visiting Rider University Broncs. With the win, the Stags are now 2-11 overall and 1-0 in conference play. Rider slips to 3-6 overall and 0-1 in the MAAC.
Fairfield got off to a quick start on Tuesday afternoon, as the hosts grabbed the double point behind a pair of 6-4 wins from Alex Aguiar and Calum Jessett and number two and Luca Benaibbouche and Alexander Di Staulo at number three.
After the Broncs tied the match at 1-1 with a win at the number five singles flight, the hosts clinched the match with three straight-set singles victories, as Kostas Kollias won at number three, 6-2, 6-3, Calum Jessett prevailed at number four, 6-1, 6-3 and Alex Aguiar triumphed at number six, 6-3, 6-2.
Kacper Krolikowski led his match at the top singles' flight on Tuesday, 6-5 in the first set, but the action was left unfinished after Fairfield clichéd the victory.
Up next, the Stags will continue a busy week of action when they host Siena on Friday afternoon at the Walsh Athletic Center Tennis Courts. First serve for MAAC match number two of 2026 is slated for 12:00 p.m.
