Men's Tennis Wraps Up Non-Conference Action At Fordham

Rams Edge The Stags, 4-3

BRONX, N.Y.-The Fairfield University men's tennis team  (1-11) wrapped up its 2026 dual match non-conference slate with a tough 4-3 loss against the host Fordham University Rams (6-9) at the Hawthorn Rooney Tennis Courts in New York City on Friday afternoon.  Friday's defeat marks the second time this week, and the fourth time this season, that the Stags have suffered a 4-3 dual match loss.

Fairfield picked up Friday's doubles point behind wins from the tandem of Alex Aguiar and Calum Jessett, who captured their match at number one, 6-2, and duo of Luca Benaibbouche and Kostas Kollias, who prevailed at number two, 6-3.

The host Rams earned Friday's victory with wins in the number one, two, four and five singles flights.

Fairfield's Calum Jessett won his singles match at number three in straight sets, 6-1, 6-4.

The Stags' other singles triumph came in comeback fashion off the racquet of Alex Aguiar in the number six position, 4-6, 6-4,6-2.

Three of the squad's singles loss against the Rams came in three sets, as Kostas Kollias fell at number two, 6-3, 3-6, 6-7 (5), Domagoj Stabek was tripped up at four, 6-3, 3-6, 1-6, and Luca Benaibbouche was topped at number five, 6-4, 1-6, 5-7

Up next, the Stags will open MAAC play with a busy week of action with two home matches at the WAC Tennis Courts when Rider is scheduled to come to Fairfield on Tuesday afternoon for a 3:00 p.m. tilt followed by Siena coming to town on Friday for a 12 noon contest.  The team will wrap up the week at Merrimack on Sunday, March 29.
