Fairfield Heads to Vermont for Non-Conference Finale, Wednesday at 1 PM

The Stags are 4-3 on the season

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield University Women's Lacrosse concludes the non-conference portion of the 2026 schedule with a Wednesday, March 11 matinee at Vermont. Opening draw from Burlington is slated for 1 p.m.
 
Fairfield University Stags (4-3, 0-0 MAAC)
  • The Stags challenged a pair of nationally-ranked foes last week, falling at #23 Army West Point last Wednesday before dropping a decision to #19 Denver at Rafferty Stadium on Saturday.
  • Already Fairfield's all-time leader, Brynn Donnelly collected her 300th draw control on Saturday. She entered this week as one of 10 active Division I players to reach that milestone.
  • Despite the stiff competition this past week, Fairfield maintains the second-best scoring defense in the MAAC, conceding just 9.71 goals per game.
  • Offensively, Tessa Caputo and Kelly Haggerty set the pace with 25 and 23 points, respectively.
  • Caputo ranks 17th in the nation with a team-leading 18 assists.
 
University of Vermont Catamounts (4-3, 0-0 America East)
  • Vermont most recently lost a 14-12 home game against Villanova to slide to 4-3 on the year.
  • The Catamounts have challenged three MAAC opponents in their non-league schedule, defeating Marist (14-9) and Iona (8-5) while dropping a 12-10 contest to Siena.
  • Lydia Doraz leads the attack with 29 total points – 18 goals and 11 assists. Jane Trauger had a scored a team-high 22 goals on the year.
  • In the UVM cage, Ayla Shea owns a 10.25 goals-against average and a .475 save percentage.
 
Series History
  • With wins in three consecutive seasons, Fairfield now owns a 9-1 lead in the all-time series with Vermont.
  • The Stags have won the last nine meetings dating back to 1998. The lone win for the Catamounts came in Fairfield's inaugural Division I varsity season of 1997.
