TRUMBULL, Conn.-The Fairfield University women's tennis team picked up the squad's second dual match win of the spring season on Sunday evening with a 5-2 triumph over the Hofstra University Pride at the Tennis Club of Trumbull. With the win, the Stags are now 2-5 on the 2026 season; while Hofstra moves to a 2-6 mark.
The visiting Pride earned Sunday's doubles point with victories in the number one and three flights. The Fairfield duo of Maria Gell and Anna Neyestani picked up a win at number two doubles, as they topped the Hofstra team of Isabella Cardinal and Sabira Mohamed, 6-1.
The host Stags quickly rebounded in singles when Sarah Liu got her team off on the right foot with a quick and convincing 6-1, 6-0 win in the number six slot.
Fairfield would then clinch the match win with triumphs by Nicolette Loeffler at number four singles, 6-2, 6-1, Lily Malinowski at number five, 6-2, 6-1 and a win by Victoria Mandma at number one, as she defeated Sabria Mohamed, 6-2, 6-3.
Anna Neyestani grabbed the team's final win in singles at number three, as she posted a comeback, 4-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-5 in the super tiebreaker) victory over the Pride's Aida Oviedo.
Up next, the Fairfield women's tennis team will head to Orlando, Florida to take on Navy on Monday, March 9, Marquette on Wednesday, March 11 and wrap up their three-match slate in the Sunshine State versus Lehigh on Thursday, March 12.
