WEST POINT, N.Y. — Fairfield University Men's Tennis opened a two-match day with a 4-2 loss to Binghamton on Sunday at Army West Point's Lichtenberg Tennis Center.
Pol Otin earned his first singles win as a Stag in the neutral site outing.
Fairfield secured the doubles point with victories at No. 2 and No. 3.
Calum Jessett and
Domagoj Stabek secured a 6-4 win at No. 2 doubles, while Otin and
Kostas Kollias delivered a convincing 6-1 performance at No. 3 doubles.
The top flight doubles match featuring
Alex Aguiar and
Diego Alcala was left unfinished following the Fairfield clinch.
In singles action, Otin's win came in straight sets at No. 4, 6-3, 6-1.
Alcala concluded his match at No. 1 singles with a 3-6, 5-7 defeat, and Jessett was on the short end of a 2-6, 3-6 score at No. 2. Kollias was clipped in a second-set tiebreak from the No. 3 slot, falling 3-6, 6-7 (1). Rounded out the completed matches, Aguiar fell 1-6, 5-7 at No. 6.
On court five, Stabek's match remained unfinished deep in the third set with a scoreline of 6-2, 3-6, 4-4.
Fairfield Men's Tennis (0-3) returns to action this evening with a 6 p.m. clash at host Army West Point. The Black Knights, who will play Binghamton earlier this afternoon, enter the day unbeaten in dual matches at 5-0.
