FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The middle outing of a season-opening, three-game homestand for Fairfield University Women's Lacrosse brings UConn to Conway Field at Rafferty Stadium on Wednesday, Feb. 11. Opening draw is set for 3 p.m.
Admission is free for all fans to all Fairfield Women's Lacrosse regular season home games this season.
Fairfield University Stags (1-0, 0-0 MAAC)
- Fairfield opened the 2026 season with a 13-6 win over visiting Rhode Island on Friday, Feb. 6.
- Tessa Caputo led the scoring with five points comprised of two goals and three assists.
- Mary Henry and MAAC Preseason Player of the Year Kelly Haggerty each netted a hat trick with one assist for four points apiece.
- In addition to a pair of goals, Haley Burns controlled the midfield with three ground balls, three caused turnovers, and three draw controls.
- Whitney Robinson started in the cage in her Fairfield debut, making three saves with three goals allowed in the first half to record the win. Keira Furey took over in the second half and made two saves.
University of Connecticut Huskies (0-1, 0-0 Big East)
- The Huskies are 0-1 on the season, opening with a 12-11 double-overtime loss at Drexel last Friday.
- Hadley Bethke scored goals for UConn, and Megan O'Brien netted one goal with four assists.
- Sofia Oximana protected the cage, finishing with 10 saves, and the defense was led by five caused turnovers and eight ground balls from reigning Big east Defensive Player of the Year Abby Beran.
- The Huskies finished the 2025 season at 11-6 overall and 4-2 in Big East play.
Series History
- UConn's win in Storrs last February pushed the Huskies' advantage to 16-6 in the all-time series.
- The Stags won the most recent clash at Rafferty Stadium – an 11-9 victory over #24 UConn in the 2024 season that also marked Fairfield's first-ever win against an IWLCA nationally-ranked opponent.
