NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. – The five-time MAAC Player of the Week
Kaety L'Amoreaux put up another stellar game, leading the Fairfield University Women's Basketball team in points (26), rebounds (six), and assists (seven) leading to an 81-51 win on the road against Niagara. With the win, the Stags remain perfect in the MAAC with a 10-0 record while winning their 12th-straight overall.
"When we looked at Lammy's stat line at halftime we said, 'that's a full game stat line,'" Head Coach
Carly Thibault-DuDonis said. "I thought our point guard play across the board was great. Nelly (Brown) got us going on the defensive end in that second quarter and
Keyarah Gregory came in and played a great floor game. Between the three of them, they showed great poise to get us going offensively and spur that offense from the defensive side."
L'Amoreaux, the MAAC's leading scorer reached the 20-point mark for the ninth time this season and led the team in points for the 11th game. She also reached another milestone by dishing out the 300th assist of her career, becoming the 21st Stag to achieve that feat.
The duo of L'Amoreaux and
Meghan Andersen scored the first 27 points for the team and 36 of the Stags' 41 points of the first half.
Fairfield took control of the game with their most dominant quarter of the season, out-scoring Niagara 26-3 in the second. The three points allowed were the fewest for a Stags' opponent this year.
L'Amoreaux amassed 22 points in that first half, the most by a Stag in any half this season.
Andersen and L'Amoreaux were also the two most successful shooters on the night, combining to go 9-for-17 from 3-point range.
Keyarah Gregory also reached a career-high with 11 points while
Sydni Scott hauled in a season-high five rebounds.
As a team, the Stags maintained their nation's leading average with 17 made 3-pointers. The Stags have now hit 999 in the four years under Coach Carly.
On the defensive side, the Stags forced 22 turnovers with
Janelle Brown leading that effort, tying her career-high with six steals. Fairfield would score 30 on those miscues. It is also the ninth time this season that Fairfield has forced 20 or more turnovers.
Fairfield reached the 80-point mark for the 10th time this season
Fairfield also picked up their 48th road win under Coach Carly, the most in the country over the last four years.
