Coe Registers Double-Double; Stags Win 20th-Straight Home Game

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield University Women's Basketball sophomore road runner Cyanne Coe registered her first career double-double with 13 points and a career-high 12 rebounds, leading the Stags to a 76-54 victory over Manhattan to improve their MAAC record to a perfect 8-0. Also with the victory, the Stags won their 20th-straight home game which is now one shy of tying the program's record set back during the 1990-91 campaigns.

"I'm so proud of Cy," Head Coach Carly Thibault-DuDonis said. "She's taken steps forward literally every week. Since the beginning of conference play and now getting to see her get her career-high in rebounding. I thought she was very focused at the beginning of the game to make an impact in that area and it was cool to see her do that."

Along with Coe, the Stags had four other student-athletes in double-figures led by Meghan Andersen's 18. Kaety L'Amoreaux and Jillian Huerter followed with 14 and Alli Campbell tallied a season-high 10. It marked the second time in the last three games the Stags had five players in double-digit scoring.

The Stags started strong with a 27-point output in the first quarter, just two points shy of a season-high. The Stags shot 63 percent in that first quarter with seven different players getting into the scoring column.

Fairfield would lead by 17 after the first 10 minutes with a 27-10 advantage but saw much of that lead whittle away in the second. Manhattan got as close as four with a 13-0 run to start the second, holding Fairfield off the board for the first four minutes of the quarter. Fairfield would increase their lead back to double-figures, ending the half on a 5-0 run with an Andersen 3-pointer and two L'Amoreaux free throws.

The Stags would hold Manhattan to just five points in the final quarter while forcing six turnovers. That helped Fairfield increase their lead to 22, setting up the final 76-54 score.

Fairfield had their best rebounding effort of the season, out-rebounding the Jaspers by 16 while grabbing 18 offensive boards. The 21 Manhattan rebounds were the fewest the Stags have allowed to an opponent this season.

Fairfield also forced 20 Jasper turnovers, the seventh time this season they have forced 20 or more miscues.

Andersen led the Stags with 18 points while hitting four 3-pointers, bringing her career total to 184 which is already in the top-five in program history.

Huerter registered a new Fairfield career-high with 14 points while hitting four triples. She has now connected on 12 3-pointers over her last four outings.

Fairfield will continue their busy week when they welcome Siena to Leo D. Mahoney Arena on Monday at 2pm when the program will also host their fourth annual Black Excellence game.
