FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield University field hockey forward
Alex Senior earned the Northeast Conference (NEC) Offensive Player of the Week after helping the Stags pick up an overtime win against Wagner in both teams' conference opener last week.
Senior set her team up for success by scoring a pair of goals against the Seahawks, including the game-winner in extra time. With the Stags' trailing by a goal, Senior tied the game with her shot that landed in the back of the cage at the 19:22 mark of the first half. Each team traded goals later in the game resulting in a 2-2 score at the end of regulation.
The Stags ended the game when Senior converted a pass from
Catalina Ness with less than two minutes remaining in the first overtime period. The two goals raised the forward's season total to four goals for eight points with both numbers ranking second among her teammates.
The Fairfield University field hockey team, under Head Coach
Laura Gebhart, will continue NEC play this coming weekend with a pair of road games. The Stags will start the weekend with a match up against Merrimack College on Friday afternoon before traveling to Stonehill College on Sunday afternoon.
