NEW BRITAIN, Conn. — Fairfield University Volleyball closed out the non-conference portion of the 2025 schedule with a 3-0 sweep on Friday evening at Central Connecticut.
Emma Bortolotti led a balanced Stags' attack with eight kills.
Fairfield caps the non-league slate at 6-4, matching the Stags' best non-conference win total since 2022. CCSU slipped to 1-10 with the defeat, which came by set scores of 25-19, 25-16 and 25-12.
Bortolotti's eight kills came on .444 hitting from the right side.
Harlan Wyche was electric in the middle with a perfect day of seven kills on seven swings, and
Maya Walker controlled both sides of the net with seven kills and seven blocks.
Katelyn Cook also had seven kills working from the pins to go along with six digs.
Allie Elliott added six kills,
Mamie Krubally chipped in four, and
Delaney Moon pushed over a kill from the libero slot.
The setting duo of
Abby Jandro and
Zofia Sykut kept the MAAC's most-potent offense humming at a .337 clip with 19 and 15 assists, respectively. Sykut also contributed to the scoring with four service aces.
In addition to Walker's seven blocks, Krubally had a hand in seven rejections and Bortolotti got a piece of four. As a team, the Stags racked up 11 blocks to help limit the Blue Devils to a .105 hitting percentage.
Moon led all players in the back row with 11 digs, and Elliott had 10.
Olivia Keckler paced CCSU with 10 kills and seven digs. Aubrey Stitcher and Weronika Poczynek added seven kills apiece for the hosts.
Up next, Action returns to Mahoney Arena when Fairfield opens MAAC play with three consecutive home outings against Merrimack (Sept. 26) and in-state foes Quinnipiac (Sept. 27) and Sacred Heart (Sept. 30).
Merrimack will come to Fairfield with a record of 2-7. The Warriors' non-conference schedule included a 3-2 win over CCSU on a neutral court on Sept. 14.
