EDISON, N.J. – Following a 2-1 weekend at Leo D. Mahoney Arena, Fairfield University Volleyball has earned a pair of awards from the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.
Mamie Krubally was named the MAAC Player of the Week, and
Emma Bortolotti was selected as the MAAC Rookie of the Week.
Fairfield hosted three matches last week at Mahoney Arena. The Stags swept reigning Ivy League Champion Yale on Wednesday and took a 3-1 victory over Northeastern on Friday. The lone blemish was a five-set loss to UConn on Saturday afternoon.
Krubally earns MAAC Player of the Week for the first time – adding two a pair of Rookie of the Week nods during her freshman campaign in 2023. This past week, she registered 3.58 kills per set on .427 hitting on the right side. Krubally also got a piece of seven blocks in her 12 sets of work. She reached double-digit kills in all three matches during the week, capped by a career-best 19 kills at a .531 clip against UConn.
This season, Krubally is hitting .294 to rank fourth in the MAAC overall and first among players with over 200 swings. Her team-leading 3.00 kills per frame are good for seventh in the conference. Krubally was an All-MAAC First Team selection and MAAC Championship MVP in 2024.
Bortolotti picks up her first MAAC Rookie of the Week nod after putting down 2.50 kills per set on .328 hitting from the right side last week. She added five blocks, including two apiece in the wins over Yale and Northeastern. Bortolotti highlighted her week with 11 kills hitting a sizzling .450 in the four-set victory over NU.
Bortolotti ranks sixth in the MAAC and first among rookies with a .291 hitting percentage. She averages 2.19 kills per stanza with 12 blocks and 11 digs in 31 sets of action.
Fairfield Volleyball closes out the non-conference schedule this week with road matches at Bryant (Sept. 17) and CCSU (Sept. 19).
Next weekend, action returns to Mahoney Arena when Fairfield opens MAAC play with three consecutive home outings against Merrimack (Sept. 26) and in-state foes Quinnipiac (Sept. 27) and Sacred Heart (Sept. 30).
