PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The Fairfield University Women's Soccer team out-shot host Rutgers by a 16-11 margin, including a game-high six attempts by
Maddy Theriault, but could not find the back of the net in a 2-0 setback at Rutgers.
Of Fairfield's 16 shots, seven were on net Rutgers' keeper Olivia Bodmer stopped all seven to finish with a season-high in saves.
The Scarlet Knights tallied both of their scores in the first half, coming in the ninth and 40th minutes. In between both of those goals, the Stags had chances to find the equalizer on the foot of Theriault, who sent a shot high in the 37th minute and then sent a shot on target but was corralled by Bodmer.
After nearly a half an hour weather delay, the Stags were the aggressors in the second half, taking 11 shots compared to three from Rutgers. Theriault had two inside the opening minute, both were stopped by Bodmer.

Meghan Carragher also had shots on target in the second stanza.
The Stags also led the match in corner kicks, taking five in the setback.
Fairfield will now travel to the Patriot League Preseason favorites Boston University on Thursday at 6pm.
