FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The reigning MAAC Champion Fairfield University Women's Soccer team has announced their 18-game schedule which features nine matches on the Lessing Field pitch. The season will open up with a road match at Holy Cross on August 14 with Fairfield's home opener slated against Vermont on Sunday, August 24.
"Each year we try to play a non-conference schedule that is tough yet fair in order have a good look at our group and prepare for the rigors of the MAAC," Head Coach
David Barrett said. "I think we have a variety of styles of play we'll face ahead of the league slate which will be important for us to continue to pursue the championship of the MAAC."
The Stags will start off their campaign with three-straight road games with a pair of those coming against squad who reached the NCAA Tournament last season.
After Fairfield begins the season at Holy Cross on Thursday, Aug. 14, they will travel to Rutgers to play a Scarlet Knights team coming off an 11-win season, a Big Ten Finals appearance, and a NCAA Tournament At-Large selection on Sunday Aug. 17.
The Stags will conclude their season opening road trip with a match against the reigning Patriot League Champions Boston University on Thursday, Aug. 21. The Terriers are coming off an unbeaten Patriot League campaign that helped them win the conference and advance to play Texas in the NCAA Tournament.
Fairfield will return to their home confines of Lessing Field for a three-game home stand with opponents from three different conferences. The Stags' home opener will be against Vermont on Sunday, Aug. 24 while the Stags will also welcome Harvard out of the Ivy League (Aug. 29) and FDU representing the NEC (Aug. 31). All three opponents tallied a winning record in 2024, averaging nearly eight wins apiece.
Fairfield will then turn their attention to defending their MAAC title for the first time in a decade as they open their MAAC schedule.
The Stags will play road matches: at Iona (Sept. 13), at Quinnipiac (Sept. 24), at Canisius (Oct. 4), at Saint Peter's (Oct. 11), at Rider (Oct. 15), and close out the regular season at Merrimack (Oct. 29).
Fairfield's home conference slate includes matches against: Sacred Heart (Sept. 20), Siena (Sept. 27), Marist (Oct. 1), Mount St. Mary's (Oct. 8), Manhattan (Oct. 18), and Niagara (Oct. 25).
Fairfield is coming off an historic season that saw the squad tie the program's single-season record with 18 wins while also capturing their first MAAC Championship and NCAA Tournament appearance in a decade.
