FAIRFIELD, Conn. – All-American guard Eric Mejia will join Fairfield University Men's Basketball for the 2025-26 season, as announced on Tuesday by Head Coach
Chris Casey. Mejia, the starting point guard at junior college power Monroe University this past season, comes to the Stags as a sophomore with three seasons of eligibility.
Mejia was selected as a Third Team All-American after guiding the Mustangs to a 26-8 overall record. His squad won the East District Championship and reached the second round of the NJCAA National Tournament. Mejia paced the team with 13.7 points per game, sparked by an electric .432 shooting percentage from three-point range, and was also Monroe's top facilitator with 4.5 assists per game. The 6-3 guard filled out his statsheet with 5.1 rebounds and 1.5 steals per contest.
"Eric is a true lead guard who can run the point and create scoring opportunities for himself and his teammates. As a defender, he has good size for a guard and can use his length to create turnovers as well as lock down his opponent with and without the ball," said Casey. "We're thrilled to have him join the Fairfield Basketball family."
Mejia hails from Washington Heights and attended Our Saviour Lutheran School in the Bronx.
