LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. – Fairfield University Men's Tennis was on the short side of a 5-2 decision on Wednesday afternoon at Rider. The Stags got singles wins from
Kostas Kollias and
Luca Benaibbouche in the MAAC setback.
With the loss, the Stags now stand at 6-7 overall and 2-2 in the MAAC. Rider improves to 7-12 on the season with a 2-3 conference mark.
Benaibbouche's win came in three sets at the #4 spot, knocking off Axel Engstrom by a score of 6-4, 3-6, 6-1. Kollias managed the #5 position in the lineup, where he earned a 6-2, 3-6, 1-0 (6) victory over Nathan Slattery.
Though Rider claimed the doubles point, the Stags earned one win on the doubles courts as Benaibbouche and
Will O'Brien picked up a 6-4 triumph at #3.
Fairfield Men's Tennis returns to action and completes a four-match road swing this Friday, April 11 at Marist. First serve indoors in New Windsor, N.Y. is set for 11 a.m.
