LATHAM, N.Y. – Fairfield University Women's Tennis remained unbeaten in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action with a 6-1 win over Siena on Sunday evening indoors at Tri-City Fitness in Latham, N.Y. The Stags were led by
Victoria Mandma, who was victorious in the top flight of both singles and doubles play.
With the win, the Stags improved to 3-0 in the MAAC as a part of a 4-11 overall mark. Siena slipped to 5-9 overall and 3-2 in conference matches.
Mandma's win in singles action came over Siena standout Laia Giralt by a count of 7-6 (5), 6-2.
Sarah Liu at #3 singles and
Lily Malinowski at #5 also polished off their opponents in straight sets.
Nicolette Loeffler rallied from one set down to claim her match in the #4 spot and
Maeve Cassidy earned a three-set win at #6.
On the doubles courts, Mandma and
Maria Gell picked up a 6-1 win at #1, and the duo of Malinowski and
Anna Neyestani was triumphant at #3. Cassidy and Liu saw their match at #2 doubles go unfinished after the Stags clinched the vital point.
Fairfield Women's Tennis continues MAAC play this Wednesday, April 9 at Rider. The day will feature the Fairfield men's team playing at noon with the women's match against the Broncs to follow.
