LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. – Fairfield University Women's Tennis completed a clean sweep of host Rider on Wednesday afternoon to remain unbeaten in MAAC play. The Stags are 4-0 in conference action after the victory in Lawrenceville.
The reigning MAAC Champion Stags – 5-11 overall – are one of two remaining MAAC unbeatens alongside 5-0 Quinnipiac. Fairfield's four remaining league matchups include a visit from the Bobcats next Wednesday, April 16.
The sweep was highlighted by four straight-set wins in singles.
Victoria Mandma,
Anna Neyestani and
Sarah Liu made quick work of their opponents in the top three flights, and
Maeve Cassidy completed a 6-2, 6-4 win in the #6 spot.
Lily Malinowski and
Maria Gell at #4 and #5, respectively, each won their singles match in a third-set tiebreaker.
On the doubles courts, Mandma and Gell picked up a 6-1 win at #1 while Malinowski and Neyestani claimed a 6-0 romp at #3. The duo of Cassidy and Liu saw their doubles match go unfinished once the point had been clinched.
Fairfield Women's Tennis returns to action and completes a four-match road swing this Saturday, April 12 at Marist. First serve indoors in New Windsor, N.Y. is set for 4 p.m.
