DENVER – Fairfield University Women's Lacrosse completed the non-conference portion of the 2025 schedule on Sunday with an 18-6 loss at Denver.
Kit Zanelli and
Kelly Haggerty each scored two goals for the Stags.
Fairfield wraps up the non-league slate at 2-6. Denver, which is expected to receive national consideration next week after also hosting and defeating #5 Michigan on Wednesday, improves to 5-3.
Zanelli's two-goal game is her first as a Stag. For Haggerty, the pair of markers raises her total to 14 for the season.
Grace Slater also had a two-point afternoon with one goal and one assist. The senior boosted her team-leading totals to 21 goals, 12 assists and 33 points on the campaign.
Fairfield also got one goal from
Kyleigh Tufano, her fourth consecutive game finding the back of the cage.
Brynn Donnelly helped keep the Stags on the attack with nine draw controls. As a team, the Stags were edged 14-12 on the restart.
Defensively, the trio of Maggie Lonsiger,
Eva Petrone and
Katherine Shammas had three caused turnovers apiece. Shammas and
Grace Kiernan both collected three ground balls.
Keira Furey and
Ally Zamparelli split the effort in the cage as each rookie goalkeeper played one half of the contest.
Denver was led by four goals from Caroline Keil. Lauren Black (3g, 2a) and Eva Thomsen-Marr (1g, 4a) had five points apiece for the Pioneers.
Fairfield Women's Lacrosse opens the MAAC schedule on Saturday, March 22 at Siena. The Saints are 1-5 on the season after falling at #24 Drexel, 16-9, on Saturday in Philadelphia.
The Stags return to Rafferty Stadium on the following Saturday, March 29 to host Rider at 1 p.m. Admission is free for all fans to all Fairfield Women's Lacrosse regular season home games this season.
