Fairfield Races Past Siena, 16-6, in MAAC Opener

Slater racks up seven points, Haggerty scores four goals

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield University Women's Lacrosse opened the MAAC portion of the 2025 season in emphatic fashion on Saturday afternoon with a 16-6 victory at Siena. The Stags were led by four goals from Kelly Haggerty and a seven-point day for Grace Slater.

With the win, the Stags move to 3-6 overall and 1-0 in the MAAC. The Stags have won 12 consecutive MAAC regular season games encompassing all of 2024 as well as the last two regular season outings of the 2023 campaign.

Siena falls to 2-7 on the year with an 0-1 league tally.

The Stags never trailed in the contest as Haggerty scored twice in the opening 124 seconds. A Siena goal proved to be the Saints' only dent in their home scoreboard for the next 23:43 of action as the Stags ran off a 10-0 run to take a commanding 12-1 lead – punctuated by Haggerty completing her hat trick.

Fairfield took a 12-2 advantage into halftime and maintained the double-digit margin for much of the second half, coasting to a 16-6 victory.

In addition to Haggerty's four goals, Amanda Kozak scored three and dished out an assist. Grace Slater, Haley Burns and Mary Henry added two goals apiece, with Brooke Marotti, Kyleigh Tufano and Katie Bergen each contributing one.

Slater racked up five assists as Fairfield's top distributor and Marotti dished out three helpers. Kozak, Burns and Henry all had one assist as the Stags assisted on 11 of their 16 tallies.

Fairfield stayed on the attack courtesy of eight draw controls from Brynn Donnelly. Eva Petrone hauled in three off the restart and had a pair of caused turnovers. Slater also notched two caused turnovers with the Stags pressuring Siena into 15 giveaways in total.

The defensive effort was highlighted by a stifling effort that limited Siena's duo of Preseason All-MAAC attackers – Grace Dobrzynski and Kelly Logue – to a total of one assist and zero shots between them.

Keira Furey started in the cage and made five saves. Ally Zamparelli did not face a shot on target over the final 13:39 of action.

Siena was led by two goals and an assist from Jenna Pollicino.

The Stags host their first MAAC game of the spring next Saturday, March 29 with a 1 p.m. visit from Rider. The Broncs are 4-4 on the year entering their league opener today against Marist, which is currently in progress as of publishing.
