FAIRFIELD, Conn. – This Saturday, March 29, Fairfield Women's Lacrosse will host "Assisting in the Fight Against Parkinson's" at the Stags' 1 p.m. home game on Conway Field at Rafferty Stadium. The game, which is free for all fans, is being held in honor of Fairfield Athletics Hall of Famer Katie Riitano McLaughlin '00.
"We are privileged to take the field in support of Katie Riitano McLaughlin and Bigfoot Endurance as they strive to raise awareness and funds to support new initiatives to help those suffering from Parkinson's disease," said Head Coach
Laura Field. "Parkinson's is a frustratingly familiar disease to our Stags community, and we are honored to stand shoulder to shoulder with all our affected teammates and assist them in any way we can as they battle this devastating disease."
The Stags will donate $1 for every assist recorded this season to Bigfoot Endurance, which is a non-profit organization that raises money and awareness for Parkinson's research by organizing and participating in endurance events.

"Hearing the news that I have Parkinson's was never something I expected to hear. The news was devastating," said McLaughlin. "But I have always been a fighter and a competitor. I'm fighting a battle for my life and it's the skills and lessons I've learned on the lacrosse field that have prepared me for this challenge. I am grateful for my time at Fairfield University as my belief in faith and the importance of work ethic that see me through every day. Thank you to my Fairfield Family, especially
Laura Field, for always having my back. Together as a community we can do anything. Let's go Stags!"
Saturday's game and all Fairfield Women's Lacrosse regular season home games are free for all fans.
