FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Alyssa Weinberg earned her the Jersey Mike's Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Pitcher of the Week award after pitching in three games last week including a complete-game win over Charleston Southern University.

The junior started a pair of games and came out of the bullpen once last week, posting a 1-1 record with a 0.93 ERA and 27 strikeouts over her 22.2 innings pitched. She opened with 5.2 innings of scoreless relief against Central Connecticut, recording 12 strikeouts in the 17 outs she recorded. She tossed 10 innings and allowed one earned run against UNC-Greensboro with eight strikeouts, before rebounding with a victory against Charleston Southern the next day. She fanned seen hitters in seven innings and allowed two earned runs in the outing.

On the season, the lefthander owns a 2.53 ERA through her 10 appearances this season. She has been in the pitching circle for all five Fairfield victories this season, owning a 5-3 record over her team-best 63.2 innings pitched. She is averaging just under eight strikeouts per seven innings pitched, accounting for 72 of the 95 strikeouts registered by the Stags' pitching staff. 

The Fairfield University softball team, under Head Coach Julie Brzezinski, will play four games this week beginning with a single, non-conference match up at Yale University on Wednesday afternoon. Following that date, the Stags will open their MAAC schedule with a three-game series at Mount St. Mary's, playing a doubleheader on Saturday and a single game on Sunday.
