FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University Women's Basketball team will take on one of the MAAC newcomers and crosstown rivals Sacred Heart with a visit to the Pitt Center on Saturday at 2pm. The Stags will be looking for their 13th-straight win and their 10th road win of the season, which will tie them for the national lead.
The Stags picked up their ninth win away from home on Thursday with an 80-49 victory at Marist. Ten different Stags entered the scoring column with eight different student-athletes connecting on at least one 3-pointer. In total, the Stags tied a season-high with 15 made 3's which also ties them for the second-most in a game in program history.
Four Stags reached double figures, led by
Kaety L'Amoreaux who totaled 17 and also tied for the team-lead with three 3-pointers. L'Amoreaux has now led the Stags in scoring in 10 games.
Raiana Brown followed her with 12 points while
Izabela Nicoletti Leite chipped in 11 and
Meghan Andersen tallied 10.
The nine road wins is tied for the second-most nationally, only behind James Madison.
The win was also Fairfield's 35th-straight against conference opponents which dates back over 690 calendar days. Fairfield's streak is the fifth-longest active streak in the nation and the second-longest in conference history.
Sacred Heart enters play with a 2-9 conference record while dropping two-straight. Ny'Ceara Pryor is the team's leading scorer (18.5), rebounder (6.1), and passer (4.0 assists).
Fairfield will return to Leo D. Mahoney Arena on Thursday night to host Saint Peter's at 7pm.
