FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University Women's Basketball team will look to clinch at least a share of the MAAC Regular Season Championship when they host crosstown rivals Sacred Heart in a 'White Out' at Leo D. Mahoney Arena on Saturday at 7pm. Fairfield will be looking to claim their sixth regular season title and their third in the last four years with a victory.
The Stags won their 40th-straight game against a MAAC opponent with an 81-61 victory on the road against the Mount on Thursday night.
Meghan Andersen led a quartet of Stags in double figures with 25 points while
Emina Selimovic tallying 17,
Kaety L'Amoreaux chipping in 14, and
Raiana Brown adding 13.
Andersen connected on four 3-pointers in the win while reaching the 20-point plateau for the sixth time this season and the 12th time in her career.
As a team, the Stags pulled down a season-high 46 rebounds with all 10 players grabbing at least one carom. Selimovic led the team with nine rebounds.
The victory was also Fairfield's 12th road win of the season, tying them with James Madison for the national lead. Over the past two seasons, the Stags also lead the country with 27 true road wins.
Sacred Heart enters play with a 3-14 record in the conference with back-to-back losses. Ny'Ceara Pryor is the team's leading scorer with over 19.0 points per game.
The game will also be a "White Out" with fans asked to wear white to cheer on the Stags.
Fairfield will host their final regular season home game of the season on Senior Day on Thursday at 7pm against Siena on ESPNU.
