EDISON, N.J. – After racking up 11 points this past week for Fairfield University Women's Lacrosse,
Grace Slater has been named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Offensive Player of the Week. Slater had five points in Wednesday's win at Boston University and tallied six in the Saturday meeting with Hofstra.
Slater's 11 points consisted of eight goals and three assists. She scored four goals at BU, including three during the decisive stretch that the saw Fairfield net the game's final seven tallies to flip a 9-6 deficit to a 13-9 victory. She also contributed a goal and an assist late in the second period as the Stags turned a 7-4 margin into a more manageable 7-6 halftime deficit.
Against Hofstra on Saturday at Rafferty Stadium, Slater matched her career high with six points consisting of four goals and two helpers. She played a part in all three of Fairfield's fourth quarter goals – netting two with one assist – to facilitate the Stags' final push against the Pride.
This season, Slater ranks second in the MAAC with 15 points and third with 10 goals. She is the MAAC leader in both points per game (5.00) and goals per game (3.33).
The Stags continue a challenging non-league slate on Wednesday, Feb. 26 with a 1 p.m. visit from Vermont. The Catamounts are 2-1 on the campaign after a 13-7 loss on Saturday at Marist.
