Stags Take Down Manhattan; Tie National Lead with 11 Road Wins

RIVERDALE, N.Y. – Four Stags scored in double-figures as the Fairfield University Women's Basketball team used a balanced offensive attack in taking down Manhattan on the road with an 84-45 final score. The victory boasts Fairfield's winning streak to 15-straight games and ties them for the national lead with their 11th road win of the year.

"We were preaching ball movement at every timeout," Head Coach Carly Thibault-DuDonis. "I thought early on we were a little greedy as we were trying to over penetrate and over it. Once they realized that they could just move the ball and get open shots I was proud of our ability to create great shots for one another and knock them down when they came our way."

Fairfield (21-3; 15-0 MAAC) led for 38 minutes of the game, starting with a Meghan Andersen 3-pointer two minutes into the contest which gave the Stags their first lead. It would be the first of 12 trifectas for the Stags who entered the game as the MAAC's top 3-point shooting team and placing 15th in the nation. It is the 11th time this season the Stags have connected on double-digit 3-pointers and the 24th time over the past two seasons.

Aside from the shooting from behind the arc, the Stags also had five chances at traditional 3-point plays with Jillian Huerter converting both of her chances. Raiana Brown, Lauren Beach, and Cyanne Coe also finished through traffic with Fairfield going 3-for-5 on the extra point.

During a tightly contested third quarter, the Stags were able to get ample breathing room as they ended the quarter on a 15-0 run which was capped by a Kaety L'Amoreaux buzzer beating 3-pointer.

The Stags also tallied a 16-0 run in the fourth quarter to run their lead to the highest of the game at 41-points.

L'Amoreaux led the quartet of double-digit scorers with 16 points while also setting a career-high with nine assists and tying her personal-best with five steals. She also set a season-high with four 3-pointers on just six attempts. She would lead the Stags in: points, rebounds (six), assists, and steals.

Emina Selimovic had a nice bounce back game with 15 points, one shy of a season-high. Andersen added 12 points with Huerter tallying 11. Sydni Scott finished one point shy of double-figures with nine points while hitting three triples.

Fairfield extends their MAAC-leading record to a perfect 15-0 in conference play and have now won 38-straight against MAAC opponents.

The Stags will look to keep that momentum when they Play 4 Kay and host Rider on Thursday night at 7pm.
