First Road Game Sends Stags to UConn

Opening draw from Storrs is set for Wednesday at 3 p.m.

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield University Women's Lacrosse makes its first road trip of the season, heading to Storrs to challenge UConn on Wednesday, Feb. 12. Opening draw is slated for 3 p.m.
 
Fairfield University Stags (0-1, 0-0 MAAC)
  • Fairfield is 0-1 on the season after a 22-13 loss to Holy Cross on Saturday at Rafferty Stadium.
  • Kelly Haggerty netted a hat trick for the Stags and dished out one assist.
  • Grace Slater had a four-point afternoon with two goals and two helpers.
  • Debuting rookies Ally Zamparelli and Keira Furey split time in the Fairfield cage.
 
UConn Huskies (1-0, 0-0 Big East)
  • The Huskies opened their season at home with a 10-9 win over #24 Drexel. UConn is ranked #24 in the Inside Lacrosse Media Poll.
  • Rayea Davis and Jenna Giardina had four points apiece for the Huskies in the victory.
  • The defense is led by Big East Preseason Defensive Player of the Year Riley Daly. Davis and Abby Beran join Daly on the Preseason All-Big East squad.
  • The Huskies were selected second in the Big East Preseason Poll behind four-time defending champion Denver.
 
Series History
  • The Stags defeated #24 UConn, 11-9, last season at Rafferty Stadium for their first-ever win against an IWLCA nationally-ranked opponent.
  • The Huskies lead the all-time series, 15-6.
  • The 21-game series includes 11 games decided by three goals or less – highlighted by two overtime outings and five total one-goal games.
  • The Stags have lost the last six meetings in Storrs and have not won at UConn since 2008.
