EDISON, N.J. – For the third time this season, Brandon Benjamin has been selected as the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week. Benjamin recorded his conference-leading fourth double-double in Sunday's 73-65 win for Fairfield University Men's Basketball over visiting Monmouth.
 
Benjamin scored 16 points on 8-for-11 shooting on Sunday and hauled in a game-leading 12 rebounds. He posted 10 points and seven boards in the second half as the Stags flipped a three-point deficit at the intermission to an eight-point win over the CAA's Hawks. Benjamin also blocked two shots with two assists and a steal in 31 minutes of work.
 
On the season, Benjamin is the MAAC's leading rebounder and ranks 20th in the nation with 9.7 rebounds per game. He is also ninth in the country with a conference-best 4.18 offensive boards per outing. Benjamin averages 12.3 points per game and ranks second in the MAAC with a .569 field goal percentage. The rookie forward is also second in the MAAC and 75th nationally at 1.64 blocked shots per contest.
 
Fairfield Men's Basketball is 6-5 on the season following yesterday's victory. The Stags continue the non-conference slate this Thursday, Dec. 18 at Central Connecticut State.
