FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Two Fairfield University men's soccer student-athletes received weekly honors from the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC). Goalkeeper
Viktor Nikolov secured the MAAC Defensive Player of the Week while forward
Pipeloore Olanrewaju garnered the MAAC Rookie of the Week. Both student-athletes played a role in Fairfield's 2-0 win over Mount St. Mary's last weekend, the Stags' only match of the week.
Nikolov posted his second straight clean sheet by making three saves, facing 13 shots in the match. All three of his saves came in the second half, two of which occurred during the final 10 minutes. The senior lowered his season goals against average to 0.33 and raised his save percentage to .889 based on his eight saves in three matches.
Olanrewaju provided Fairfield with a more comfortable lead against the Mount when he scored the team's second goal in the first few minutes of the second half. The freshman is tied for third on the team in scoring with nine points, registering four goals and one assist over his 14 appearances.
The Fairfield University men's soccer team, under Head Coach
