Camille Perlov and
Payton Rahn earned weekly field hockey accolades from the NEC on Tuesday afternoon for their performances last week. The duo combined to help the Fairfield University field hockey team post a 2-0 week with road wins against Hofstra University and the University of Vermont.
Perlov scored three goals in a 2-0 week for the Stags, including both game-winning goals. She opened the week with a goal in the Stags' 5-1 win at Hofstra, netting the team's first goal in the ninth minute. She followed up with a two-goal performance at Vermont, helping the Stags post a 2-1 win on the road. With her performance last week, Perlov moved into a tie for the team lead with seven goals through her 13 appearances.
Rahn registered a .833 save percentage in helping the Stags win two road games last weekend. She opened with one save in Fairfield's 5-1 win at Hofstra before managing a season-best nine saves in the victory at Vermont. Against the Catamounts, she stopped seven shots in the first half and added two more in the fourth quarter. For the week, she averaged five saves per game which included her season-high nine stops against Vermont.
The Fairfield University field hockey team, under Head Coach
Laura Gebhart, will play a pair of NEC matches this weekend. The Stags will travel to Mercyhurst University on Friday afternoon before returning home for a meeting with Rider University on Sunday afternoon. The field hockey team will honor their senior class prior to the Rider game.
