FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield University Volleyball went toe-to-toe with Boston College on Friday evening at the 2024 Fairfield Invitational. The Eagles took three close sets from the Stags at Leo D. Mahoney Arena to take a 3-0 decision by a count of 25-21, 25-23 and 25-23. Fairfield was led by 12 kills apiece by

After opening the tournament with a sweep of Central Connecticut State on Thursday, the Stags stand at 2-3 on the season. Boston College stays unbeaten on the campaign at 4-0.
"We played well – it came down to a point here and there as well as some shot selection and decision making," said Head Coach
Nancy Somera. "But I'm pleased with the effort. We didn't lose that match, Boston College won it. Credit to them, they got some big kills and big blocks that made the difference in a close match."
Walker's 12 kills came on .500 hitting as she raised her MAAC-best hitting percentage to .464 on the season. Krubally amassed her dozen finishers hitting .320 from the right side.
On the left side of the offense,
Mikayla Haut and
Allie Elliott each added seven kills.
Janna Schlageter chipped in six kills,
Emma Beretich had two, and
Harlan Wyche put down on kill on her only swing of the contest.
The attack was managed by
Abby Jandro and
Blakely Montgomery with 26 and 12 assists, respectively. The duo ran the Fairfield offense to a .244 hitting percentage.
On the defensive end, Walker had a hand in both of Fairfield's blocks as she teamed up with Haut and Elliott for one rejection apiece. In the back row,
Kyla Berg led the effort with 15 digs, while Haut and Montgomery each registered nine from the back row.
Boston College was led by 12 kills from Audrey Ross and 11 by Halle Schroder. The Eagles hit .317 as a team, with Sophia Lambros dishing out 27 assists and Jane Petrie finishing with 14.
