Stags Compete at Ted Owen Invitational

Snayd places second overall

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. -- Freshman Hannah Snayd continued the stellar beginning to her collegiate career on Saturday as she finished in second place at 20th Annual Ted Owen Cross Country Invitational hosted by Central Connecticut State University in New Britain's Stanley Quarter Park.  Snayd finished second in today's race after winning the season-opening meet at Marist and finishing fifth last week at the Jasper Fall XC Invitational, Hannah covered the 5K course in the Hardware City this afternoon in a time of 17:24.

Central Connecticut's Brooke Morabito won Saturday's event, breaking the tape in 16:51.

As a team, the Stags took eighth out of strong 10 team field that featured 109 runners.  UMass Amherst won the event with a total of 30 points.

Sophomore Mia Strazzella was the second Fairfield racer across the line at CCSU in a time of 18:18 to place 14th overall.

Carlina Castro (19:04), Ada Gebauer (19:23) and Devan Gambello (19:34) completed the Fairfield top five in New Britain.

The Fairfield women's cross country team will now take an extended break from competition before delving into championship season on October 18 at the IC4A/ECAC Championship Meet at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx.
