Field Hockey Announces 2024 Schedule

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Head Coach Jackie Kane has put together another formidable schedule for the upcoming 2024 field hockey season as the Stags will play programs from seven different conferences beginning with the season opener against Bryant University on August 30.

Two opponents advanced to last year's NCAA Championship while four other teams garnered a .500 or better record during the 2023 season. Fairfield has at least one date with a representative from America East, Atlantic 10, Big East, Coastal Athletic Association, Ivy League, and the Patriot League in addition to its annual slate with the Northeast Conference.

"Our coaching staff always emphasizes a competitive schedule and this year certainly achieves that goal," Head Coach Jackie Kane said. "We are excited for the 2024 season as we brought Maine back onto the schedule and added an NCAA tournament team in William & Mary. Our conference schedule is always demanding especially with us having to travel to Rider, LIU, and St. Francis."

After their season opener at Bryant, the Stags return home to University Field for a three-game set that starts with the home opener against the College of the Holy Cross on September 6. The home stand continues with LaSalle University on September 8, a team which posted a 13-6 mark a year ago. The run ends with an intrastate match up against Yale University on September 13.

The schedules sends the Stags on the road for two of their next three dates, beginning with a stop at Lehigh University on September 15. Fairfield will host the University of New Hampshire on September 20 before Northeast Conference (NEC) play opens with a drive down to Rider University on September 27.

Another three-game home stand awaits Fairfield following the Rider match with the Stags hosting the University of Maine on September 29, Wagner College on October 4, and NEC newcomer Mercyhurst University on October 6.

Fairfield completes the season by traveling for four of its final seven regular-season games which gets underway when the team heads to LIU for an October 11 game. The Stags will host Merrimack College on October 13 before making the short trip to Sacred Heart University for an NEC match up on October 18. The College of William & Mary is next up on the docket as the 2023 NCAA Tournament team will come to campus on October 20.

Coach Kane will bring her team together for a two-game road trip, the only time the team will play back-to-back road games in 2024. Both dates involve trips to the Keystone State with NEC foe Saint Francis University hosting the Stags on October 25 before Villanova University welcomes Fairfield for an October 27 date.

The Stags close out the regular season with its final home game of 2024, hosting Stonehill College on November 1 for a conference match before heading to the University of Delaware on November 3.
