Fairfield Volleyball Adds Stephanie Stone as Graduate Assistant Coach

Stone was a four-year starter at Marist College

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Head Coach Nancy Somera has announced the addition of Stephanie Stone to the Fairfield University Volleyball staff as a graduate assistant coach. Stone has prior experience in the MAAC as a four-year member of the Marist volleyball program and is currently a coach at Northeast Volleyball Club.

Stone is the head coach of the Girls 15.2 program and an assistant for the Girls 15.1 team at Northeast Volleyball Club in Norwalk. After her collegiate career at Marist, she competed in Austria, Croatia, Slovenia, Italy and Turkey. Stone also previously worked at Dell Technologies as a Data Protection Specialist.

At Marist, Stone played four seasons as a middle blocker from 2016-19, appearing in 351 sets. She graduated ranked among the Red Foxes' all-time leaders with 289 total blocks. Stone was a three-time MAAC All-Academic honoree. She graduated from Marist in 2020 with a B.A. in Communication and Media Studies, where she was inducted into both the Delta Alpha Pi International Honor Society and Lambda Pi Eta Communication Honor Society.

"The addition of Stephanie to our staff will give us another strong gym coach, especially while working with the middle blockers," said Somera. "She has a systems mindset and will also be able to takeover some of the day-to-day program administrative duties. We're excited to have her onboard."

Fairfield Volleyball won the MAAC Championship in 2023 – the 13th in program history – in the first season with Somera at the helm. The Stags went 22-7 overall and 16-2 in the MAAC last fall, wrapping up at #12 Purdue in the NCAA Championship First Round.
