SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Fairfield University Men's Basketball has been selected to play in the 2024 Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame Tip-Off on Nov. 23-24 at Mohegan Sun Arena. The Stags will challenge Yale and Vermont in the tournament, which also features Delaware.
 
"The Hall of Fame Tip-Off will be one of the highlights of our non-conference schedule," said Head Coach Chris Casey. "Connecticut is home to a lot of great college basketball and a lot of great college basketball fans, so we're thrilled to be a part of what I'm sure will be a tremendous atmosphere. And from a competitive standpoint, the opportunity to play two premier mid-major teams that participated in the NCAA Tournament last year will be a good test for us before we get into the MAAC schedule."
 
In its first season with Casey at the helm in 2023-24, Fairfield Men's Basketball finished second in the MAAC regular season and won two postseason games in Atlantic City to advance to the MAAC Championship Game. The Stags went on to accept an invitation to the CBI, winning two more games to reach the semifinals before falling to eventual CBI Champion Seattle. Fairfield concluded the season at 24-13, tied for the second-most wins in program history. Fairfield's .649 winning percentage has only been topped by previous Stags' teams on four occasions since 1980.
 
The Ivy League Champion last season, Yale went on to upset Auburn in the first round of the NCAA Championship, finishing the campaign at 23-10. Fairfield knocked off the Bulldogs this past December, 75-71 in New Haven to improve to 14-11 in the all-time series with the Elis.
 
Also a league champion, Vermont won the America East for the third consecutive season to reach the NCAA Tournament. The Catamounts fell to Duke in the opening round of the Big Dance, ending the year at 28-7. The Stags are 8-2 all-time against Vermont. Most recently, the squads split a home-and-home series in 2009-10 and 2010-11 – with each club winning on its home court. Prior to that arrangement, Fairfield and Vermont had not met since the 1982-83 campaign.
 
Tickets for the 2024 Basketball Hall of Fame Tip-Off will go on sale Friday, September 6, via Ticketmaster and on sale at the Mohegan Sun Arena Box Office starting Saturday, September 7. Details surrounding the game time, broadcast information, and credentials will be announced at a later date.
