POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Fairfield University Women's Tennis stayed unbeaten in the MAAC and won its fifth consecutive match overall with a 6-1 victory on Tuesday afternoon at Marist. The Stags improve to 8-8 overall and 4-0 in MAAC play, officially clinching a berth in the conference postseason.
Starting off the action in Poughkeepsie, Fairfield locked up the doubles point with victories from
Francesca Karman and
Lily Malinowski at #2 as well as
Laina Campos and
Nicolette Loeffler in the #3 spot.
The Stags ran off five singles wins – all in straight sets – to lock up the win.
Katarina Plumtree led the way with a win at #2 singles, followed by Loeffler, Karman, Malinowski and
Maeve Cassidy.
Up next, Fairfield will vie for the MAAC regular season title with two matches remaining in the regular season. The Stags will host 4-0 Niagara on Saturday, April 13 and 4-0 Quinnipiac on Monday, April 15. The Purple Eagles and Bobcats will play each other on Sunday, April 14 in Hamden.
