Stags Sweep Stonehill on Senior Day

Fairfield moves to 7-8 on the season

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield University Women's Tennis earned a 7-0 win over Stonehill on Saturday at the WAC Outdoor Courts. The Stags celebrated seniors Scarlett Hutchinson and Katarina Plumtree prior to the match.

With the win, Fairfield improves to 7-8 in dual matches this spring, while Stonehill slips to 2-19.

"It was a great day for our seniors, Kat and Scarlett. Both played really well going 2-0 on the day," said Head Coach Jeff Bricker. "No rest for the women as we get back to preparing for conference play on Tuesday."

The doubles point was a clean sleep for the Stags. Lily Malinowski and Francesca Karman got the victory at #1, followed by Hutchinson and Laina Campos occupying the #2 spot and the duo of Plumtree and Lucie Tuttle at #3.

Plumtree took the helm at #1 singles and earned a decisive 6-4, 6-2 win. Nicolette Loeffler, Malinowski, Hutchinson, Tuttle and Meg Harding rounded out the roster of singles victors as the Stags completed their fourth consecutive win and third straight 7-0 triumph.

The Stags, who are 3-0 in the MAAC, return to conference play at Marist on Tuesday, April 9. Fairfield will play three matches in five days to complete the MAAC regular season as they then host Quinnipiac on Thursday and Niagara on Saturday.
