FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield University Men's Tennis celebrated Senior Day and capped the non-conference portion of the 2023-24 slate with a 7-0 sweep of visiting Stonehill on Sunday afternoon. The victory ran the Stags' winning streak to seven consecutive matches.
With the win, Fairfield improves to 10-8 in dual matches this spring, while Stonehill slips to 5-12.
The Stags opened the afternoon with a sweep of the doubles point.
Keean Shah – Fairfield's only senior on the men's side – and
Thomas Smart earned a 6-4 win at the top flight.
Nick Condos and
Will O'Brien took the court at #2 and
Alex Aguiar and
Domagoj Stabek represented the Stags' at #3, with earn pair collecting a 6-1 triumph.
All six Stags on the singles courts were victorious in straight sets, led by Smart in the top draw followed by Condos, Shah,
Kostas Kollias,
Luca Benaibbouche and
Calum Jessett.
Fairfield, which is 3-0 in the MAAC, will play the second half of the conference slate in a seven-day span beginning this Wednesday, April 10 at Marist. The Stags then host Niagara and Quinnipiac to round out the regular season.
